La ringrazio sentitamente per la Sua gentile lettera del 28 gennaio 1967 e mi dispiace solo di averLe evidentemente causato tanta fatica. Naturalmente non era mia intenzione molestarLa in questo modo. Non sapevo neanche che fosse impegnato nei preparativi per il Suo film, altrimenti non Le avrei scritto. Sarò comunque lieto di inviarLe un estratto (separatum) non appena il mio saggio sarà pubblicato. Secondo quanto comunicatomi dalla rivista in questione, ciò potrà avvenire solo intorno al mese di maggio. Se desidera riceverne una copia prima, La prego di farmelo sapere, perché potrò inviarLe un duplicato. Ma naturalmente l’estratto è più comodo.

Thank you very much for your kind letter of January 28, 1967, and I am sorry to have caused you so much trouble. I truly did not, of course, intend to bother you. I also did not know that you are currently busy preparing your film; otherwise, I would not have written to you at all. However, I will gladly send you a copy (reprint) once the work has been published. According to the magazine in question, though, this will not be until May or thereabouts. If you would like to have the work before then, please let me know, as I could send you a copy. But a reprint is indeed more convenient.

Sehr verehrter Herr Levi!

Ich danke Ihnen verbindlichst für Ihren freundlichen Brief vom 28. Januar 1967 und bedaure nur, daß ich Ihnen offenbar viel Mühe gemacht habe. Ich hatte natürlich wirklich nicht die Absicht, Sie so zu plagen. Ich wußte auch nicht, daß Sie jetzt mit den Vorbereitungen zu Ihrem Film beschäftigt sind, sonst hätte ich gar nicht geschrieben. Gern aber werde ich Ihnen einen Sonderdruck (Separatum) schicken, wenn die Arbeit erschienen ist. Nach der Mitteilung der betreffenden Zeitschrift wird dies aber erst etwa im Mai sein. Sollten Sie die Arbeit vorher noch einmal haben wollen, so bitte ich um Nachricht, weil ich Ihnen dann eine Abschrift schicken würde. Aber ein Separatum ist ja bequemer.
