spetta a me, e non a Lei, di ringraziare per la diffusione che Lei ha dato al mio libro. Le Sue pagine che ho ricevuto mi hanno sorpreso: opinioni simili alle Sue non sono rare anche in Italia, e io stesso le condivido in buone parte: ma in questo paese non sarebbe pensabile che un privato (e specialmente un funzionario della Radio: qui la Radio è statale e strettamente conformista) scrivesse una circolare alle scuole; e se lo facesse, la circolare non arriverebbe certo agli studenti!
Le sarei molto grato se mi facesse sapere se questa è la Sua prima iniziativa di questo genere; se altri in Germania lo fanno; e quale successo ha avuto.
La Germania è certo uno strano paese. Da quando il mio libroè stato pubblicato in tedesco, ho ricevuto numerose lettere da parte di lettori singoli, tutte improntate a solidarietà e amicizia (e questo in Italia non era accaduto); invece, non mi risulta siano state pubblicate recensioni su giornali e riviste. Crede Ella che ciò si possa attribuire a una diversa sensibilità del mondo che legge e del mondo ufficiale?

It is I, and not you, who must say thank you for the dissemination you have given my book. I was surprised by the pages you sent me: similar opinions are not rare even in Italy and I myself share them to a great degree: but in this country, it would be unthinkable for a private citizen (and especially an employee of the Radio: here the Radio is state-owned and strictly conformist) to write a circular to the schools; and if he did so, the circular would certainly not reach the students!
I would be very grateful if you could tell me if it is your first initiative of this kind; if others in Germany do so; and what success it has had.
Germany certainly is a strange country. Ever since my book was published in Germany, I have received numerous letters from individual readers, all characterized by solidarity and friendship (and this did not happen in Italy); on the other hand, to my knowledge, no reviews have been published in newspapers and magazines. Do you think this can be attributed to a different sensitivity between the reading world and the official world?
