Caro Primo,

Rosh Hashanah[1] è di nuovo alle porte, così si torna a pensare agli amici. E tu sei tra i primi a cui va il mio pensiero.

Mia moglie e io auguriamo quindi a te e alla tua cara famiglia un

SHANAH TOVAH!

Possa il nuovo anno preservare prima di tutto la vostra salute e far sì che la tua forza creativa, anche in campo letterario, non venga mai meno. Ci farebbe molto piacere ricevere presto vostre notizie.

Nostra figlia è già al secondo anno alla Yeshiva University di New York, mentre nostro figlio, che nel frattempo è diventato tecnico radiotelevisivo, è emigrato in Canada perché qui, per la gioventù ebraica, non c’è futuro: il rischio di matrimoni misti è altissimo.

In vista delle prossime festività vi auguriamo di trascorrerle serenamente e che il cielo ascolti le vostre preghiere.

Dear Primo!

Rosh Hashanah[1] is just around the corner again, so my thoughts turn once more to friends—and you are at the very top of my list.

My wife and I would like to wish you and your dear family

SHANAH TOVAH!

May you all remain in good health in the new year, and may your creative energy—including in the literary realm—never wane. We would be delighted to hear from you again soon.

Our daughter is now in her second year at Yeshiva University in New York, and our son, who in the meantime has become a radio and television technician, has emigrated to Canada, because Jewish youth have no future here as Jews—the risk of intermarriage is very high.

We hope you have a pleasant time during the upcoming holidays and that your prayers are answered in heaven.

Lieber Primo!

Rosch Haschana[1] ist wieder vor der Tür, so denkt man wieder an Freunde und zu denen gehörst Du bei mir in erster Reihe.

Meine Frau und ich wünschen also Dir und Deiner lieben Familie ein

SCHANAH TOWA!

Möge Euch auch im neuen Jahr vor allem die Gesundheit bewahrt bleiben und Deine Schaffenskraft, auch auf literarischem Gebiet, nicht vermindert werden. Es würde uns freuen bald wieder von Euch Nachricht zu haben.

Unsere Tochter ist schon das zweite Jahr an der Yeschiwa University in New York und der Sohn, der inzwischen Radio- und Fernsehmechaniker geworden ist, ist nach Kanada ausgewandert, denn die jüdische Jugend hat hier als Juden keine Zukunft, denn die Gefahr der Mischehe ist sehr gross.

Zu den kommenden Feiertagen wünschen wir Euch, dass Ihr sie angenehm verbringet, und dass Eure Gebete im Himmel erhört werden.
